My educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Art from USF, and a Masters degree in Art Education from FSU. I am certified to teach Art K-12 and Social Science 6-12. Most of my college classes were in the area of art history and studio art. I spent one semester of my junior year of college studying in Florence, Italy resulting in my love for history and travel.

My family has been in St. Pete for over 40 years, and have developed many ties to the area. My two brothers and I attended St. Paul's and are graduates of SPHS. My mother, Joanne Cheek taught Art at St. Pete High from 1987-1999. My brother Tom and I were hired at SPHS in 1999, just as my mother retired. Tom taught English until last year when he moved to Indiana with his wife and children. I started as an art teacher and switched to teaching history two years ago. My father, Cecil Cheek has been teaching psychology at Saint Petersburg College since the 60's. My other brother Mike is the only non teacher in the family, but is living an exciting life in Budapest, Hungary with his wife and three beautiful daughters.

In addition to my family ties to SPHS, I also met my husband here. Mr. Trewin teaches Algebra and Geometry, and we often have students in common. The most amazing thing in our lives right now is our beautiful baby girl, Taylor, who was born last April. Our lives are forever changed and we have never been happier!

I never imagined that I would be back at SPHS teaching, nor did I ever think that I would meet my husband here. SPHS indeed, holds a special place in my heart. I am looking forward to another wonderful year.
